Day 10 - Bali (2nd October ‘24)

Today we thought we would hit the beach at Nusa Dua - known for having rather lovely beaches. The reputation was accurate. We arrived, scored ourselves a couple of cushioned sun beds with a parasol for a few quid, with a clear view of the water. It was a lovely sandy beach with blue clear waters. We spent a few hours getting in and out, bobbing in the water. There were shoals of fish we think were 'Oriental Sweetlips' swimming about too. The weather was stunning, and under the parasol and a generous coating of sun tan lotion we thought we were safe, but still ended up getting a bit burnt!

Once we were done we headed past a fancy looking beach front hotel resort, toward a beach front restaurant that we had read about - Kekeb. We grabbed a table nearest the water and settled in for a lovely dinner - having come straight from the beach, we did feel a bit under dressed, but no one said anything! I had a ridiculous chicken skewer meal with rice, passion fruit salad, a normal salad with a honey dressing. The skewers were presented on a very Balinese looking skewer stand, so it certainly added to the theatre. As the sun was going down, the outside lights of the restaurant turned on and so it was a great atmosphere to have dinner!

After dinner we used their changing rooms to rinse our feet and get into fresh clothes and then wandered over to an outdoor mall type place. We mooched around the shops killing time for a bit before tonight's visit to the theatre to see the 'Devdan Show'. The Devdan show is basically a whistle stop tour through the various Indonesian cultures through various costumes, different music styles and instruments, traditional dances, and some cirque du soleil style acrobatics. All with elements of water and fire thrown in for good measure. It was a pretty full on, non-stop performance for the hour and very impressive.

After the performance had finished we felt like getting home and in the pool to cool off. The sunburn was kicking in and we had been outside for basically the entire day!

The beach. Not many more photos as we were either in the water or chilling on the lounger.

Dinner. Kebab at Kekeb. Lovely.

The outdoor mall. Not much to see.

The theatre.

The end of the performance you could photograph.

The cast!
